Extra Curricular Activities:
At Zobia Trust, we recognise the importance of extracurricular activities in the holistic development of our special needs children. These activities provide opportunities for spiritual growth, learning, practical skills, and enjoyment, enriching their overall educational experience.
Holistic Growth Through Activities
Supporting Growth, Learning, and Well-Being
Daily Assembly:
-
Each school day begins with a gathering of all the children for a prayer assembly. This assembly starts with the recitation of the Quran, Naat Sharif, and various Duas, and concludes with the Anthems of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir. This daily ritual fosters a sense of community, spiritual well-being, and national pride among the children.
Religious Festivals:
- We celebrate all Islamic religious festivals, such as Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Adha, Eid Milad-un-Nabi, and Ramadan Day. During these celebrations, we gather the children for prayers and educate them about the significance and messages of these important days in our lives. These celebrations foster a sense of cultural and religious identity and provide opportunities for the children to bond with their peers.
Healthy eating:
- To promote healthy eating habits and educate children about the benefits of fruits, we celebrate special Fruit Days throughout the year. These include Mango Day, Orange Day, Strawberry Day, and more. During these events, children learn about the nutritional benefits of eating fruits and drinking fruit juices, making healthy choices fun and engaging.
National & International Days:
- We celebrate all national and international days, such as Pakistan Day, Qaid-e-Azam Day, Allama Iqbal Day, Kashmir Day, Solidarity Day, Mother's Day, Special Person Day, Autism Day, Women's Day, Teachers' Day, and Plantation Day. On these occasions, we gather the children and educate them on the importance and message of these special days, fostering a sense of national and global awareness.
Holistic Development:
-
By incorporating these extracurricular activities into the school routine, Zobia Trust supports the holistic development of the children. These activities play a crucial role in their physical, emotional, spiritual, and practical growth, helping them lead well-rounded and fulfilling lives.
Cost to Charity:
- Organising and funding these extracurricular activities come at a cost to the charity. We rely on the generosity of our donors to continue offering these enriching experiences. Your contributions make a real difference in the lives of these children, providing them with opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive.
Tuck shop:
- We have tuck shops in all three schools to educate our special needs children on how to purchase and sell goods/articles. These open once a week, allowing children to bring pocket money from home (ranging from Rupee 20 to 50). This exercise helps familiarize the children with currency notes and coins, and develops habits of saving and decision-making. They learn whether to spend their pocket money on a single item or buy multiple things, and how to buy and sell goods, return balance amounts, etc. Initially, teachers played the role of shopkeepers while children were customers, but now some trained children have taken on the role of shopkeepers, selling goods to their peers.
